Don’t miss Race Day Weekend at the Wiedemann Brewery in the always-friendly confines of downtown St. Bernard!
The second annual Wiedemann Mile is a challenging test of strategic speed and pacing run over the bed of the historic Miami & Erie Canal. This rolling cross-country course is mostly flat, with a couple short-but-challenging hills near the midpoint. The event will take place rain or shine. A free kids fun run will follow the main event.
The one-mile course begins and ends in the Bohemian Beer Garden of the historic Wiedemann Brewery, where the original canal wall still stands more than 100 years after commercial traffic was shut down. The top three male and female runners will win prize money in the form of brass Wiedemann’s “Good Luck” beer tokens and other valuable merchandise. The $25 entry fee includes a drink of choice and a piping hot Wiedewurst™ on a bun.
An all-day after-party in the beer garden will feature live music, cornhole and beer bottle ring toss competitions, food and LOTS of Wiedemann’s Fine Beer.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the St. Bernard-Ludlow Grove Historical Society, the Allison Estep Memorial Fund for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the Cincinnati Soap Box Derby.
Also ADDED: Chug-a-lug relay (four-person teams) — Chug a beer, run down to the turnaround at the end of the canal path, chug another beer, run back to the start and pass the baton to your teammate. Best overall time wins Wiedie tokens. Two teams race at a time. Winner determined by best overall time.
